Project - Tor Middle Relay

Within my hosting environment, I setup a Tor Middle Relay to help people surf the internet anonymously! I believe it is important to have a service for staying anonymous and it has many practical uses such as for journalists to ensure they can browse and communicate safely. That being said - I am never going to setup an entry/exit node!

I setup my relay on a Ubuntu box within OVH.

I used https://community.torproject.org/relay/setup/post-install/ to begin, then I used Tor’s Middle Relay guide for Debian-Ubuntu which I found to be very useful which can be found here: https://community.torproject.org/relay/setup/guard/debian-ubuntu/

Within their guide, it links to further instructions which can be found here: https://support.torproject.org/apt/tor-deb-repo/

The setup guides were mostly alright. I ran into a few issues here and there such as adding the gpg key to sign packages but after spending some time, I managed to get around it - actually, I had to reinstall Tor to fix the issue.

Below is a screenshot of my Middle Relay. The Advertised Bandwidth is 0 B/s at the moment and will be for the first 3 days.

I am unsure how long I will run my relay for as I only set it up for a learning experience.
